The procedure of baptism
As all concede, the word ‘baptism’ which means ‘immersion’ is derived from the Greek word ‘Baptizo’. As we have already seen, John the Baptist, gave immersion baptism to those who repented after hearing him. He chose a place that had plenty of water as it was needed for doing immersion baptism ministry
Even Jesus was baptized by John in Jordan River. It is obvious that He got into Jordan River and came out of it after Baptism (Mark 1:9, 10). Paul preaches that baptism is burial in water. “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death” (Romans 6:4).
Just throwing a handful of mud over a corpse can’t be considered as burial. In the same way sprinkling a few drops of water on a person cannot be called baptism. Therefore baptism should be given only by immersion.
